Hi, I’m J. Patrick Bowman,
a landscape designer and minister
who loves nature.
Landscape design encompasses creating a harmonious relationship between the natural environment and the people that occupy that environment. It involves plants, hardscape, circulation, utilitarian necessities, scale, proportion, color, texture, and a host of other factors thoughtfully brought together for the ultimate enjoyment and use of outdoor spaces.
Residential landscape design additionally considers the architecture of the home, the character of the neighborhood, the lifestyle of the homeowners, and how they want to use their outdoor space. The main consideration is functionality.
My background includes three years in the Environmental Horticulture program at South Seattle Community College. I continued there for five additional years as the teaching assistant under the Landscape Architect in charge of the design program. During this time, I also worked at a retail nursery and spent several years as a columnist and photographer for the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association as well as teaching classes. I learned much about spirituality by studying and practicing landscape design and my Christian spirituality has also influenced my design sensibilities. God, after all, is the Great Designer!
I have eighteen years of professional experience as a landscape designer concentrating on drawing plans for residential and light commercial projects.
I am currently accepting a limited number of residential clients in The Dalles, Oregon area.
